Philanthropy

As you can imagine, Identity Salon Day Spa receives many requests to sponsor events every year. Especially with the large and active greek population at WSU, the requests for philanthropic assistance are, quite frankly, far greater than what we can afford to support.

Therefore, we have devised the following strategy for donating our resources:

First, we support the American Cancer Society and cancer research. As with most Americans, Cancer has touched the lives of our family in a most tragic way. Co-owner Jeff Williams lost his father to pancreatic cancer several years ago, and over the years our employees have lost friends and relatives to cancer. We have also lost clients to this horrible disease.

Second, we try and support a handful of efforts that directly benefit our local community (Pullman). Specifically, those efforts which benefit children and their education interest us the most. However, we are open to looking at nearly any request, provided it truly benefits our community in some way.

Other than the aforementioned, we are unable to support other non-local efforts at this time. While worthwhile, they are simply outside of the philanthropic purview we have established. Of course, we occasionally deviate from this policy in the event of a national disaster, but for the most part this is our strategy.

If you have a fundraising effort you would like Identity Salon Day Spa to participate in, and it conforms to the above listed qualifications, we welcome your request. What we do not want to see is a xeroxed, generic "dear potential sponsor" letter. If you are going to ask for our financial or in-kind assistance, we would ask that you have enough respect to ask us for our assistance on an individualized basis.

We will attempt to respond to your inquiry, especially if your request meets the qualifications listed above, and if you provide us an email address as part of your letter. However, please understand that due to sheer volume we simply CANNOT respond to all requests, nor can we provide assistance for all events. We do, however, wish you nothing but the best of luck in your efforts. We take philanthropy very seriously, and we're glad you do as well.

Promotional requests (not oriented at benefiting a particular cause or non-commercial organization) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Cold calls are discouraged - and again, we appreciate personalized correspondence.
